Hotel Residenz-Ravensburg – the hotel at the gateway to Lake Constance. No matter whether you are travelling by car, bus or public transport: Ravensburg is not far from Lake Constance, which can be easily reached within 20 minutes. In addition to the cheaper alternative to accommodation by the lake, with Ravensburg you have chosen the centre of the Bodensee-Oberschwaben region. Our hotel near Lake Constance is the ideal starting point to get to know the numerous excursion destinations in the region.
We have put together a list of some of the many possibilities offered by the region of Lake Constance and Upper Swabia with the neighbouring countries of Austria and Switzerland:
Flower Island Mainau
As is well known, many roads lead not only to the Italian capital, but also to Mainau, the flower island in Lake Constance that is open all year round. The island of Mainau is easy to reach via the mainland and by boat.
A large car park offers plenty of chargeable parking spaces (free for coaches, by the way).
A particularly nice way to visit the Mainau is by boat. The Lake Constance fleet offers numerous, regular boat connections to Mainau Island during the season.
World Cultural Heritage Reichenau Monastery Island
In addition to its dreamlike location in Lake Constance and its nationally renowned vegetable cultivation, the monastery island of Reichenau is directly linked to events, ideas, artistic and literary works of exceptional, universal significance.
Reichenau played an outstanding and important role in the politics and culture of the Carolingian period. Reichenau abbots were councillors and officials at the imperial court, educators of princes, diplomats and envoys; finally, such important bishoprics as Pavia and St. Denis were also occupied by Reichenau monks. The first European horticultural treatise (“Hortulus”) was written on Reichenau, as was an ideal plan of a Benedictine monastery, the so-called St. Gallen monastery plan, around 830.

Holidays near Lake Constance
If one stretches the arc over the German side, the well-known destinations must be mentioned in addition to the many small towns and villages worth seeing, which are rather appealing to the guest seeking recreation.
Lindau, Friedrichshafen, Meersburg, Constance. Just four towns and yet as different and varied as the entire region presents itself to the traveller. Set off on a cultural, historical or epicurean voyage of discovery in Germany’s most beautiful holiday region around Lake Constance.
In addition to the easily and quickly accessible German side of the lake, we also want to mention our Swiss and Austrian neighbours and their lake side. Besides Bregenz with its world-famous festival on the lake stage, St. Gallen on the hills above the lake is rich in Swiss history and lifestyle.
